Interview by Steffen Rüth/Bild der Frau translated by Nik/THI
No matter where, they will be recognized - that's part of the Tokio Hotel twins' job. But they protect their family life. No wonder that there are nearly no photos of mom Simone and her famous sons.
Bild der Frau: The fans had to wait 2 years for the new TH CD - did you need a break? Tom: No way! We worked all the time. Bill: But while we produced the new CD, we of course tried to disappear, to be away somewhere.
BdF: Do you have a private life between all the success and appointments with the band? Bill: Not really. Going out to have some ice cream with the family - impossible. The only private moment for us is when we're in the car.
BdF: Sounds sad. At that you surely would like to enjoy going out with buddies, having a drink or a girlfriend ... Tom: To be honest, I can't really imagine being together with someone else. I also couldn't imagine living together with a woman. Bill: I can.
BdF: Why can't you, Tom? Tom: I can imagine that we get used to each other really fast and that the relationship will be boring. Bill: You shouldn't become "normal" for each other. You have to appreciate that you've found each other. If I fell in love nothing matters, I don't care about anything. Then I would immediately pack my bags and move in somewhere else. Tom: Forget it, Bill. We will live together till we die. We will never be apart from each other. Bill: Yes, but then we have to install a sliding door in the middle of the apartment. I'll live on one side with my girlfriend and you'll live on the other side.
BdF: Bill, are you currently in love? Bill: No, but I'd wish that so much. But I guess that's the last thing that happens in my life.
BdF: If you could carve yourself a woman, how would she look like? Tom: The classic dream girl does not exist. But by all means she should have really gorgeous eyes. Bill: I want to be able to directly look into her soul through her eyes. I have to know and feel that she will never disappoint or betray me. Tom: You then have that feeling that you seem to know her for a long time although you just met her.
BdF: A feeling of trust like you have with your mom Simone - the most important woman in your lives? Bill: Yes, at any rate. Sometimes it's not easy for us to trust newly met people. But we know that we can trust only our mother, 100 percent.
BdF: What's your relationship to each other? Tom: Anything between us is very intimate and friendly/amicably. We understand each other blindly with our mother. Without her we wouldn't have survived many situations, she's like our protective shield.
BdF: Your mom just married her longtime companion. Bill: Isn't it great? That's her first marriage, she wasn't married to our dad.
BdF: Don't you think it's romantic that they've married after being together for 12 years? Bill: Totally! I was so happy for my mom. Our stepdad brought us to music back then, we gre up with him and we think it's really, really great.
BdF: What are your attitudes to marriage? Would you also want to marry one day? Tom: I think marriages are really nice. But to be honest, I can't imagine myself doing this one day. Bill: I've also always said that I won't marry. But I'm not that sure anymore. If I really fall in love then anything is possible for me. If I met my soulmate, then I'll marry her.
BdF: And become a dad later? Bill: I don't know ... Tom: I'm happy with my dogs. Bill: Same here. Maybe we'll have a dog farm later, with 100 dogs. And they'll all run over our land. And dogs are like children anyway ...
